January Transfer Window: Arrivals at the Emirates

As we expected , Le Boss has come out and squashed any hopes of a major signing during this transfer window. According to Arsene, he would only be looking at another centerback should TV5 failed to recover from his injury.

Although I expected this from the gaffer, I had hope that GE would be looking to bring in another centerback even if Vermaelen returns in a couple of weeks. The defense has been our Achilles heel throughout last season and this year with no sign that the two players he brought in the summer can be the permanent solution to the problem.

We are on the cusp of something great with this team. If we can plug the holes in defense then we will really go places. Firstly, just go and get Gary Cahill. Owen Coyle is resigned to losing him so what are we waiting for. Sure he would cost about £15 - £18 million pounds but didn't we pay about £10 million for Koscielny and Cahill is definitely better than the Frenchman.

Secondly, get Marcus Sketelenburg over from Ajax. Fabianski has improved over the last few months but  can he really be the answer to our goalkeeping woes? I don't think so. Wigan's equalizer proved that we need a more commanding goalkeeper in that position. Of course there are other candidates in this department but I fancy the Dutchman and he would not cost a bomb.

Other than the possibility of these two additions, the team is very well equipped to handle the rigours of challenging on four fronts. First up, let's whack the millionaires from the north and show them money doesn't alway guarantee success.
